Flamenco is an art form centuries old, that embraces the exchange of new ideas, and fosters boldness and originality. While the craft and tradition of flamenco continues to flourish, the aficionados and performers still take pride in the art form’s innovative and inclusive nature. Similar to American jazz, Flamenco is influenced by and born of many cultures – Gypsy, Jewish, Moorish, and indigenous Andalusían.
This is your chance to experience flamenco music and dance in its birthplace of Andalusia along with the best food and wine the region has to offer. Ensemble Ibérica artistic director, Beau Bledsoe will be your guide as he shares with you the musicians, dancers and great restaurateurs that have become his friends over the years.
Wednesday, July 4th: Beginning day for our Ensemble Iberica Spanish adventure. Plan your airfare to arrive in MADRID, SPAIN on the morning of Wednesday, July 4th. Check into the Hotel Palacio Del Retiro overlooking Retiro Park. Dinner at the Hotel Ritz, Madrid.
Thursday, July 5th: We take a high-speed train to Sevilla with ground transportation provided to the Hotel Fontecruz, located in the very picturesque Santa Cruz neighborhood with stunning views of the Sevilla Cathedral and the famous Giralda tower. After resting up this afternoon, we will all get acquainted during a wine tasting and dinner at Mirador San Fernando, one Sevilla’s finest restaurants. Beau will bring along his flamenco guitar to play and explain a little about the flamenco music we are here to experience. After dinner, Beau will take any hardy souls on a brief walking tour of the area.
Friday, July 6th: After breakfast, (included each day) our private coach will take us to Granada to view one of the new seven wonders of the world, the Alhambra palace. On the way back to Sevilla we will dine in the ancient city of Osuna at the famous Casa Curro.
Saturday, July 7th: A private coach tour of the famous Pueblos Blancos (White Towns of Andalusia) with a stop in Ronda to view the monumental bullring and the bullfighting museum. Lastly, we will visit Beau’s adopted flamenco home La Puebla de Cazalla to hear their famous style of singing and sample the incredible tapas this humble pueblo has to offer. This area of Spain is almost dream-like in its stunning beauty.
Sunday, July 8th: We visit the original city of light, Cordoba to tour its famous mosque La Mezquita. Afterwards, come back to Sevilla for tapas and a private flamenco show featuring Beau Bledsoe with many local artists at "Bar Puerto Sol."
Monday, July 9th: Today to be enjoyed at your leisure in Sevilla. Tonight is a live flamenco performance the Museo de Baile Sevilla (Museum of Flamenco Dance) and dinner at Restaurante Abades Triana restaurant on the Guadalquivir river.
Tuesday, July 10th: Check out of hotel and take high-speed train to Madrid and Check into the Hotel Palacio Del Retiro . There will be an optional afternoon visit to Reina Sofía Museum to view Pablo Picasso’s Guernica.The evening is at your leisure. A list of popular sights and restaurants in Madrid will be provided for you.
Wednesday, July 11th: Travel Day. Coach transportation has been arranged to the Madrid airport for flights home.
